Community Development Worker
Description✓LifeLine works with young people on the edge of poor mental health, serious youth violenceand school exclusion to become agents for change in their communities
✓We do this throughproviding mentoring to young people, supporting their families and building the communitiesaround them.
✓Our SW!TCH Communities Programme works on local estates where there is a high prevalence to violence
✓The postholder will work with a small team to build the capacity of the local community to respond to and prevent issues of serious youth violence
✓This will include having a high visible presence on the estates, liaising with partner organisations & stakeholders and recruiting, training and supporting local community members to become volunteer mentors and community activists.
✓1.Increase engagement with and involvement of the local community in developing a collaborative preventative response to the problem of SYV.

✓Promote, enhance and strengthen relations between and across groups on the estate to ensure a shared understanding of underlying issues and concerns, ensure that differentvoices [young and old] are heard and to bring people together to form collective leadership.

✓Increase the ability of the community to respond to incidents, to work collaboratively with police and local agencies, and to take preventative actions in support of young people.

✓Plan and deliver creative and engaging consultation events and activities, to understand and gather information from a diverse range of people on local needs and issues.

✓Support residents to lead on community projects and the development and delivery of new groups, services, or activities to meet needs or improve services in the community.

✓Liaise with all stakeholders including local schools, councillors, faith groups, other community and voluntary groups and local businesses to ensure their skills, knowledge, and ability to connect and support local people is fully utilised.

✓Gather data and information continuously and comprehensively from multiple sources, utilising a variety of methods to accurately inform report writing, capture case studies and support recommendations for change with the wider team.

✓To research local issues for use by LifeLine in internal and external development
✓This will include desk-based research and outreach work at events and door to door in the local community.

✓To support the work of other members of Community Lincs when necessary for the good of the organisation and the communities of Lincolnshire.

✓To attend relevant meetings as requested by your Manager.

✓Qualifications
✓· Level 4 Community work qualificatio or equivalent experience
✓ESSENTIAL:
✓Experience · Minimum of two years’ of working in communities with high levels of youth violence
✓· Experience in managing safeguarding incidents
✓Competencies · Ability to develop relationships with residents, local businesses, statutory services and VCS organisations.
✓Knowledge and understanding of social issues and how public sector bodies work
✓· Creative thinking and the ability to solve problems.
✓· Build relationship and respect with local community members, parents, organisations and wider stakeholders to build support for the programme.
