- JOB PURPOSE
To provide high quality legal advice to the firm’s clients and meet a financial target.
NE or 1-2 years PQE
- ORGANISATIONAL POSITION
Working in a team of 5 lawyers
Producing own typing & documents
Supported by the admin support team.
- ROLE OF DEPARTMENT
To provide legal advice and run cases relating to non contentious and legal work pertaining particularly to all aspects of wills & probate including –
- Wills
Drafting wills Terms and implications of wills
Tax liability Tax planning
- Probate
Winding up and administering estates
Preparing tax forms and probate accounts
Accurate and regular cost estimates and ensuring procedures for anti-money laundering are adhered to
Preparing Deeds of Variation
- Lasting Powers of Attorney and Deputyship orders
Preparation of, and advising clients on, and obtaining them
- Trusts
Drafting and advising on Trust Deeds
Client group- Private
This list is not exhaustive and subject to review as and when required by the Partners
- KEY RESULT AREAS
Providing legal advice and working to the Law Society, Lexcel, ISO, WIQS and Solicitors Regulation Authority standards.
Achieving a fee target as set out and agreed at the beginning of the financial year.
Working to the firm’s policies and procedures
Accurate and regular cost estimates ensuring proper procedures for anti-money laundering are adhered to
Accurate time recording
Accurate and regular billing and ensuring recovery of those charges
Winning new clients, marketing and profile building
- MARKETING
Building relationships with current and potential work referrers
Winning new clients for the firm
- ASSIGNMENT AND REVIEW OF WORK
Legal files will be reviewed by the Head of Department on a regular basis in line with the Law Society’s Lexcel Practice Management Standard
The firm requires you to deal with each transaction from commencement of the transaction to completion with minimum supervision
You will be required to work on a number of matters at any one time and manage the client’s expectations
You must close files and account to clients after the matter is concluded
- COMMUNICATIONS AND RELATIONSHIPS
Communicating with clients, beneficiaries of estates and other third parties in the course of working on their matter.
Communicating with the firm’s management team, your head of department, other lawyers and the support team and secretaries
Winning new clients for the firm
- PHYSICAL, MENTAL, EMOTIONAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS OF THE JOB
Working to deadlines whilst assessing and minimizing risk to the firm
Meeting an agreed financial target
Working in an open plan office in a team environment

Operating a desktop pc or surface pro.
- SYSTEMS
Working on Microsoft Windows, Outlook, Tikit, Oyez legal forms, the internet, Practical Law, Westlaw, Arken, HMCTS Online system
