Mechanical Design Engineer
Description✓We are recruiting for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer within a global engineering company in Bournemouth, Dorset.

✓Working Hours: Mon ‐ Thurs 8.30am ‐ 12.45pm & 13.15pm ‐ 17.15pm; Friday 8.30am ‐ 12.45pm [37 ¼ hours]
✓The Main Aim of the Role:
✓The Design Engineer will work within the Research & Development Department supporting the Fluid Handling product line.
✓Responsibilities
✓Key member of the Fluid Handling Team working closely with other Team members and Development Engineering
✓Manage initial cost estimates, procurement of prototypes, and alpha test units.
✓To create conceptual designs and develop robust production designs.
✓Creation of engineering documentation [drawings, BOM's etc] to appropriate Standards.
✓Develop in compliance with to applicable product safety standards
✓Working with NPD Stage Gate Process and reporting into Project Management.
✓Generation of 'Design Verification Plan & Report'
✓General problem solving to assist Production, Quality, Purchasing and Sales personnel.

✓Knowledge Required:
✓Use of PC Workstation & 3D CAD Software [Solidworks, preferred]
✓Use of EDP systems
✓Mechanical Engineering & drawing practices
✓Degree or equivalent experience
✓Personal Specification/Essential Qualities:
✓Analytical - ability to assess problems and action corrective measures.
✓Good Engineering Knowledge and problem‐solving ability.
✓Knowledge of Fluid Dynamics
✓Knowledge of Mechanical engineering and drawing practices
✓General engineering practices.
✓Mechanical design understanding
✓Hydraulic design understanding
✓Pneumatic design understanding
✓Manufacturing processes - machining / casting / assembly / testing.
