Apprentice Plumber
Description✓PURPOSE OF THE APPRENTICESHIP:
✓* To learn and develop technical knowledge, practical experience and wider skills and behaviours through vocational study and on the job training.
✓* To gain an understanding of the work of the hiring team, a good knowledge of the wider organisation and of local government.
✓* To assist the work of the hiring team in providing Council services and to learn to perform highly, both independently and as part of a team.

✓ABOUT THE ROLE
✓This is an apprenticeship within Building Maintenance On a daily basis, the team will visit resident properties to carry out general repairs and adaptations
✓The apprentice in this role will be providing an effective plumbing repairs/maintenance service to Hackney Councils’ tenanted/void properties and public buildings around the borough.
✓MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

✓Carry out general plumbing repairs and maintenance works
✓Learn to install/repair baths, sinks, toilets, wash hand basins, complete sink base units
✓Clear blocked wastes to toilets, sinks, baths, drains
✓Trace out water leaks and carry out rectification works and cap off supply to services as required.

✓Learn to renew/repair hot water cylinders and cold water tanks
✓Drain down the system and replace the immersion element/heater and replace shower.
✓3
✓Remove access panels and replace the following work carried out
✓Carry out excavation to wall or floor to access pipe work and make good areas following necessary work.

✓In void properties carry out cleaning of sanitary wear to toilets, wash hand basins, sinks and bath.

✓Learn to disconnect and remove/renew radiators, valves and fittings where necessary.

✓Work at heights from e.g
✓scaffolding, ladders, mobile tower and erect temporary work platform.
✓7
✓Undertake any other general duties/associated works relevant to the post required.

✓To carry out works with minimum disruption to the service users and ensure the premises are left clean and tidy.

✓Carry out all work instructions allocated in a timely manner, in the order identified and to an acceptable quality standard.

✓Undertake daily routine safety and maintenance checks ensuring that machinery and equipment used is well maintained, kept clean and not exposed to the risk of damage or loss/theft.

✓Be contactable by mobile phone
✓Be well presented in Hackney Housing uniform ensuring that the uniform is clean and well maintained and carry Hackney Council I.D, to be displayed on request.

✓To be prepared to attend college regularly on the designated day
✓To be willing to complete the required academic and practical training programme at college which will lead to the required qualifications.

✓To be prepared to learn and assist with refurbishment works to void properties, carrying out repairs/installations to comply with the Fit to Let Standard.

✓To ensure that course work / assignments / homework is completed and submitted in a timely manner.
