Description✓Ford Escort Mk2 1600 Sport This has been imported from South Africa and UK registration has been applied for which will return on an age related plate and will be TAX and MOT exempt
✓Although we will MOT the car for the new owner.This car was previously owned by a gentleman from Johannesburg who looked after it for a number of years and had told us it only come out of the garage to attend shows
✓He obviously looked after it and it shows! We have seen a number of cars come from SA and this has to be one of the best of the last! The car has only covered 57430 miles and we it believe to be legitimate due to the condition of the car.BodyworkThe shell is in great condition and being a SA 1600 sport has all the RS strengthening points
✓The floors and sills are in great condition and is spotless underneath
✓Inner wings, strut tops, door shuts, arches, chassis rails, etc
✓are solid
✓Only negatives are spare wheel well has had a bit of a crap repair but once fixed the shell would be spotless and we can see evidence of a new drivers wing
✓The engine bay is in great condition.Moving on to the exterior, the paintwork has been repainted at some point but is a fantastic finish and even after a basic wash after its 7200 mile round trip it looks great! We should imagine with a full detail the paint would pop! After going over the exterior with a fine tooth comb we have spotted a small dent on the rear pillar/roof and one on the boot but they really are tiny and probably can be removed with a PDR, especially the one on the rear
✓Apart from that there are a few paint chips but for a 40 year old car that really is us just being picky and the car is in excellent condition.MechanicsOriginal 1600 crossflow in great condition starts first time and seems to drive okay around the yard, but obviously once we MOT it we can give it a good test! We assume that the carb will need tuning as they always do coming from SA.InteriorInterior is complete and in good condition for 40 years old! There are a few marks on the seats but will probably come out with a detail and there is a small tear on drivers vinyl
✓Drivers door release handle has snapped but we have just sourced one so we will fit it once it comes
