Speech and language Teaching Assistant
Description✓Five Education is supporting a primary school in Bristol and we are looking for a Teaching Assistant to support a child with a speech and language delay
✓The student is in year one and is working at EYFS level struggling with communication
✓Some knowledge of Makaton and PECS [Picture exchange communication] is essential for this role as the pupil often uses signs to communicate
✓The pupil sometimes struggles to engage in classroom activities and needs a clear structure throughout the day.
✓The school-based in Bristol has an inclusive ethos and requires a confident and experienced individual to support the children on a one-to-one basis
✓This role is temporary at the moment but may have the potential to become long-term if you get along well.
✓Responsibilities and duties:
✓Supporting the student in classroom activities
✓Assisting the student at lunchtime
✓Working 1:1
✓Assisting the student with social and emotional development, including appropriate responses and building relationships
✓Implementing behaviour management tools in line with the school's policy
✓Working on speech and language techniques to help improve student's language
✓Essential Criteria:
✓At least 6 months experience of working with children with SEMH/SEND
✓Basic Makaton knowledge and use of visuals/now and next cards
✓A flexible and resourceful approach
✓Patient and able to relate to the student
✓You will be able to demonstrate strong behaviour management skills
✓Have a right to work in the UK [A Valid Visa]
✓Two recent child based references and relevant DBS/ Police checks
✓Access to bicycle, car, or near main bus routes.
✓Able to work 8.30-3.30, 4-5 days per week term time only
