Commercial Manager - fixed term contract/secondment

DescriptionHere at Amey we have an opportunity for a Commercial Manager to join us for a fixed term contract - around 1-2 years - in the Transport Infrastructure [TI] Hub.
You will be the commercial lead on a project to improve our sub-contractor task order management and payment processes
This will require you to become the subject matter expert in our future process and to support the commercial teams with making the changes
This will be enabled by the implementation of a new module for managing sub-contractors in SAP.
You will be primarily responsible for ensuring that the business led aspects of the change are delivered
This will require the support of some of the contract-based teams, who you will need to give the necessary direction and support to, ensuring they are clear on what they need to do and that the rollout is smooth and controlled.
You will roll out the new system solution across all Highways accounts in Transport Infrastructure.
This role offers remote working.
Duties
* Become the expert in the future process, including becoming the SAP super user for the new system
* Develop a detailed plan of activities needed for a smooth system implementation for each contract, clearly outlining who needs to complete each activity
* Co-ordinate across the business resources to ensure the activities on the plan are delivered on time
* Develop training materials and process documentation for the rollout
* Development of a detailed communications plan so that all stakeholders [internal and external] are aware of the changes and the impacts on them
* Preparation of status reports to update on progress and to raise risks and issues
* Train the commercial teams in the new processes and systems
* Ensure sub-contractors are aware of the changes and are clear on what they need to do
* Ensure we are working with our colleagues in Amey Business Services [ABS], so they are aware of what changes are being made and when
* Provide intensive training and coaching to a community of super users so that they can provide local support post implementation [Train the Trainer]
* Co-ordinate the User Acceptance Testing
Qualifications
* Hold a quantity surveying or related profession degree, or master’s degree, is desirable
Skills
* High level of knowledge about sub-contractor management processes
* Ability to help design future processes that are fit for purpose
* Ability to articulate processes to stakeholders ensuring confidence in the new ways of working
* Knowledge of types of communication and presentations skills
Experience
* Proven track record in quantity surveying / commercial management, preferably in relevant sectors
* Knowledge of the sub-contractor administration processes [from task order to payment]
* Knowledge and experience of supply chain procurement, management, and accounting
* Experience of supporting an IT enabling project is desirable
