Mechanical/ Electrical Engineer

The role:
The company is looking for an Engineer who is comfortable working with both mechanical and electrical disciplines
Strong experience of working with packaging machinery and Multi heads on dried foods would be essential
What is also essential is that you have experience of fixing faults, responding effectively to machine breakdowns, checking calibration and servicing of machinery in a factory environment
You will also be able to Take personal responsibility for health and safety ,To generate and maintain compliance to SOP’s/Risk Assessments, Minimise waste and recycle all product effectively ,Maintain high standards of hygiene and housekeeping ,Actively use on line PQE as a means of achieving quality standards and report plant performance using appropriate company systems and ensure action/communication of non-conformance issues , Ensure operational key information is effectively communicated to colleagues and other shift teams during the shift handover procedure, Completion of breakdown sheets and paying attention to detail, Daily patrols with previous shift TC’s to check plant at shift handover ,Train, assess, coach and support ATM’s and Team members: development of basic engineering skills , Input into team action plans and continuous improvement activities ,Responsible for the mechanical and electrical integrity of equipment by carrying out the following , Effective planned maintenance inspections as per plan , Meantime between failure rates Overhaul and repair of plant ,Continually monitor plant conditions and report defects ,Deliver a consistent and improving plant reliability through the effective management and monitoring of downtime, PPM confirmation, Engineering planning ,Report and present all performance matters routinely, including trends and breakdown/fault areas ,Act as the team champions of good engineering standards ,Carry out safety checks on equipment in line with legislation and best practice , Ensure the permit to work [PTW] system is controlled in an effective and safe manner ,To complete operate food manufacturing equipment as and when required
Skills Required
Formal Engineering qualification, NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in a mechanical and/or electrical discipline with corresponding practical experience
Wiring regs to current standards
Train the Trainer course
Safety [Essential Working Safely CERT]
Technical [Level 2 Food Safety]
Power truck operation skills
Knowledge of COSHH
Complex machine operation skills
