Our client specialising in gene editing are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual to join their laboratory team based in Cambridge
They want someone to work in one of their project teams and provide progress reports to the team leader You will also contribute to the company’s innovation projects supervised by a Senior Scientist
The work typically consists of a combination of the following [depending on the project]: generating gene-edited iPSC lines, differentiating them into hepatocyte-like cells, treating cells with specific reagents, conducting and analysing cell-based assays as well as generating reports
You will also have some notions of troubleshooting and simple experiment design
It would be suitable for someone with at least three years of laboratory experience in the stem cell biology field [preferably in the industry]

Or client was founded in 2013 to aid one of the UK’s leading Universities in their life science research, they use a patented differentiation process in combination with in-house gene editing to differentiate human iPSC to hepatocytes which are then used to support our client’s work in developing next generation liver therapeutics.

What will you be doing as a Scientist II?
* Organise the run of client projects and report progress to the Team Leader.
* Liaise with other teams and third parties to ensure the smooth run of the projects.
* Conduct of gene editing, differentiation and assay protocols.
* Record data timely and accurately into our client’s record systems.
* Generate project reports.
* Assist with troubleshooting and process improvement.
* Carry out general laboratory housekeeping and cleaning duties.
What experience / skills are we looking for?
* MSc
Degree in Life Sciences or equivalent with understanding of stem cell technology + at least three years of laboratory experience [E].
* At least three years of experience of iPSC culture and differentiation [E].
* Experience of gene editing using CRISPR-Cas9 [D].
* Experience of running cell-based assays [D].
* Capable of working to a schedule and delivery of a variety of challenging projects at a time within agreed deadlines [E].
* Excellent attention to details [E].
* Ability to work both as part of a team and independently when required [E].
* Excellent communication skills [E].
