My client a reputable and established professional membership is looking for a Membership Development Manager.
We are looking for a team player who can demonstrate excellent relevant membership acquisition experience along with excellent work ethic.
The Role of Membership Development Manager
Reporting to the to the Professional Development Director, this role will play an integral part in new membership acquisition, inhouse training & building partnerships, sponsorship, and stakeholder relationship management, and other sponsorship-related initiatives
They will be responsible for:
New membership acquisition: through a planned and targeted approach, acquire new members in line with targets.
Sourcing and acquiring new business from members and non-members, across the range of services, in line with targets [services including but not limited to events/conferences, training/courses, books/publications]
Conducting research to identify potential opportunities and competitor analysis, maintaining an up-to-date summary of key competitor activities - locations, products, pricing, and benefits.
Negotiating and confirming contracts as well as ensuring that all invoices are processed, and payments received prior to the delivery of benefits.
Maintaining records of potential and current members acquired and services contracted, with key contact details and financial information in accordance with GDPR requirements, and brief notes on relationship status.
Provide regular reports on members acquisition and business opportunities.
Perform other duties from time to time in line with the needs of the membership organisation
Qualifications and Skills
The successful candidate will need to proactively source new corporate and investor members and sponsors, whilst growing existing relationships and have:
A track record in business development in relevant sectors and/or related fields and demonstrating a knowledge of international practice and policy would be preferred, but not essential.
A solid track record of developing new business and account growth.
Experience of developing sales strategy and dealing with senior management
Good communication and people skills, with a creative approach to problem-solving and the ability to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines.
Experience of conducting successful negotiations, working globally / across cultures
A minimum of 5 years of business development and sales experience, ideally within the events and/or association membership space
