✓Avencia Consulting are recruiting on behalf of a Specialty Insurer in the City, who are looking to hire a Reporting Accountant to join on a contract basis
✓The Company currently writes lines of business including; specialty insurance: aviation & aerospace, energy, marine, property, terror & political violence, contingency and other specialty lines; reinsurance: property reinsurance, property retrocession, specialty reinsurance, whole account/multi-class and bespoke.
✓The role
✓Reporting into the Non Technical Accounting Manager, you will support on day to day activities as well as ad hoc projects
✓Key accountabilities
✓Perform the monthly non-technical close process including processes such as payroll postings, bank reconciliations, prepayments, fixed assets, accruals and other corporate transactions
✓Assist and support the accounts payable function with processing and approval of invoices and employee expenses in SAP Concur and Oracle Fusion applications.
✓Assist where necessary with the annual business plan and reforecasting for corporate expenses
✓Perform general expense analysis with commentary for Board reporting
✓Perform the calculation and monitoring of intercompany balances in accordance with intra-group service agreements
✓Prepare monthly management accounts for stand-alone entities
✓Liaise with internal and external audit ensuring the timely completion of reviews and compliance with applicable accounting standards
✓Maintain and improve internal controls and procedures documentation
✓Keep Non-technical Accounting Manager and CFO fully informed of the status of the projects assigned, as well as relevant accounting-related issues that may arise from such projects
✓Ad hoc projects as requiredSkills & experience
✓A professional accounting qualification or part qualified [ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent]
✓Experience preferably gained in an insurance/reinsurance environment
✓Strong knowledge of the Microsoft Suite of applications with advanced Excel skills
✓Knowledge and experience of US GAAP for insurance accounting
✓Knowledge of relevant accounting software [previous experience with Oracle, SAP Concur and Aqilla preferred but not required]
✓Advanced and proven financial, analytical and organizational skills
✓Ability to work effectively as part of the finance team and other key stakeholders across different functions within the organization
