Senior Management Accountant
Description✓Senior Management Accountant required for an immediate contract!
✓Opus people Solutions on behalf of Redditch & Bromsgrove Council are looking for a Senior Management Accountant to join the Finance team at Redditch Council
✓This exciting hybrid role will you require you to work from both home and Redditch Town Hall.
✓As a Senior Management Accountant, your role will include:
✓Managing the financial monitoring and reporting of the Councils service budgets, ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards and treatments.
✓Responsibility for supporting the Council setting an accurate budget, including the reconciliation within the general ledger system and provide information to enable the section 151 officer to complete the statutory resolution.
✓Production of the HRA rent setting report and ensure that the rent setting process is correctly followed, and changes are implemented correctly.
✓Actively supporting the Financial Services Manager and Head of Finance and Customer Services in their section 151 duties for the Council.
✓Contributing to the medium-term financial planning ensuring it meets the requirements of the Council's Financial Strategy.
✓Interpreting and applying the impacts of new legislation and grant regulations in relation to service requirements and the financial accounting requirements of the Council.
✓Maintaining an awareness of all changes in funding arrangements and consider the impact on the Council in conjunction with the other Finance leads.Key skills required:
✓Possession of or studying towards an Intermediate or Professional Accounting qualification
✓Understanding of principles of accounting within the public sector
✓Experience of working with competing demands and to tight timescales Experience of dealing with budget and service managers
✓Practical experience of final accounts
✓Experience of completing grant claims and statutory and statistical returns
✓Experience of compiling revenue and/or capital budgets
✓Substantial knowledge and experience of requirements of Internal and External Audit
