Senior Landowner Engagement Lead

DescriptionReporting to the Head of External Communications & Engagement, the successful candidate will lead our landowner engagement specialists, developing and nurturing relationships with landowners and the agricultural, urban, and residential communities
This will include land rights processes and valuations, obtaining easements and wayleaves for projects, agency management and importantly, providing landowners access to a visible, trusted SONI representative during all phases of the grid project lifecycle, from initiation through to planning and onto handover to our colleagues at NIE Networks for the construction phase
Collaborative working with NIE Networks' project team will be essential.
Key Responsibilities
* Support the Head of External Communications and Engagement, working closely with our grid infrastructure and legal teams in the development and execution of specific landowner engagement and land rights management plans
* Direct, manage, co-ordinate and coach the Landowner Engagement Team
* Prioritise, co-ordinate and facilitate project timelines.
* Develop project-specific landowner engagement strategies to secure the necessary land access requirements for SONI infrastructure projects.
* Manage SONI's engagement and reputation with wider agricultural stakeholders.
* Support the wider team with community engagement and pre-application community consultation programmes.
* Ensure internal and external policies relating to landowner management and land rights are applied
* Use knowledge of Northern Ireland and UK land management legislation to provide landowner, and agricultural best-practice advice to project staff, planners, legal advisors and consultants.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
* The successful candidate should have typically a minimum 3 years' experience in similar roles
* The candidate must demonstrate experience in managing, directing and coaching a team as well as developing and maintaining excellent relationships with landowners, agents, experts in related fields of agriculture and equine and with Northern Ireland bodies associated with land management
* You will have negotiation, valuation and compensation experience and a possess a thorough understanding of Land and Property Rights Management, including wayleaves and easement processes and associated legislation
* The successful candidate will have a thorough knowledge of best practice methodologies in land management in Northern Ireland
* The candidate will evidence strong knowledge of the agriculture industry, farming enterprises and practices
* Evidence specific experience in working with farming organisations and a track record in understanding stakeholder perspectives
* The candidate will demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills including self-motivation, diplomacy, enthusiasm and teamwork
* You will have experience of managing staff workplans and performance, including the associated human resources requirements
* Evidencing experience in problem-solving, excellent organisational skills and an ability to lead others, resilience and flexibility are essential
* Good map reading and cartographic skills
* Full clean drivers' license
* Knowledge of mapping software, ArcGIS, Project Mapper or similar
* Most importantly, you will need to be able to work collaboratively with colleagues, landowners, the agricultural community and other stakeholders
Desirable
* Third level Qualification in property management, land valuation or surveying
* Specific experience in landowner engagement in the energy sector.
* RICS Chartered Status or evidence of working towards Chartered Status
