Contract Design Engineer [AutoCAD / Inventor]
Description✓Due to a period of large business expansion and increased customer demand, Spectrum IT's Hampshire client are seeking to hire 3 Contract CAD Design Engineers to join their inhouse product design team in the Greater Winchester area
✓This is an onsite role for an initial 3 month contract and has been deemed Inside IR35 [engagement via an FCSA Umbrella company]
✓Role
✓As the Contract CAD Design Engineer you will play a key role as part of the in house design team - You will design, develop and deliver high level models
✓Working as part of the product development team across the complete lifecycle, you will produce models, drawings and manufacturing documentation required throughout the development cycle [including but not limited to: concepts, prototypes, test assets and formal production].
✓Responsibilities
✓Create and update Production support information from complex CAD Models in accordance with engineering change procedures.
✓Support and develop Design to production processes.
✓Interface with both production operatives and Engineering teams to ensure continuity of deliverable.
✓Production of layouts, BOMs and part drawings to ensure both procurement and manufacturing can describe, procure and make the product.
✓Support the development of in-house designs with ideas, package studies, layouts and concept work.
✓Assist the development of additional manufacturing information - floor layouts, SOPs, cuttings lists.
✓Skills & Experience
✓A CAD Designer with extensive modelling and draughting experience to meet specification or achieve design direction
✓Experienced and capable in the use of 3D modelling [Inventor]
✓Experience of producing manufacturing information and knowledge of Design for manufacturing techniques.
✓Experience in working with ERP/PDM to control BOM and CAD interfaces and ensure version control
✓Previous experience working within an engineering / manufacturing business
✓Experience in producing assembly drawings, layouts, scheme, part drawings.
✓Knowledge of engineering drawings, CAD draughting standards and applying GD&T to part drawings.
✓Knowledge of manufacturing processes and design constraints [material, tolerance, process etc] would also be beneficial
✓Extensive high level modelling experience
✓A detail focused individual with strong time management in the pursuit of deadlines
✓Effective communicator internally who can work across various functions to ensure outcomes are achieved.
