Design Technician
Description✓Design Technician Permanent Full-time
✓Salary - £35,000 to £42,000

✓We're supporting a company who are experts in the design and fabrication of Architectural metalwork with over two decades of experience in this sector.
✓Due to organic growth and a forever growing order book, they are now looking to increase their design team with an additional Design Technician, this person will be responsible for supplying detailed job packs to the Production Team, ready for the manufacture of each order, including CAM programmes for the CNC punch machinery.
✓Responsibilities, but are not limited to
✓Create 3D models in SolidWorks from customers drawings/schedules ready for production
✓Produce detailed drawings for fabrication
✓Production of assembly drawings/instructions to aid on site installation
✓Create DXF's for all parts on punch schedule ready for import into Sigma/Stream Punch
✓Import SolidWorks models/DXF's into SigmaNest/Stream Punch
✓Clean up geometry of flat patterns prior to tooling
✓Nest and tool parts in most efficient and economical way
✓Ensure correct number of parts are nested in the correct material, as per the punch schedule
✓Identify what stock to use, if not predefined, and request procurement of additional material where required
✓Produce mock nests for the Sales Team, as and when required, to aid material purchase for specific projectsExperiences required
✓Competent in 3D modelling preferably in SolidWorks, but Inventor or Solid Edge will be considered
✓Good understanding of designing for sheet metal, fabrication and weldments
✓Able to create designs for manufacture [DFM]
✓Experience in programming SigmaNESt for CNC is beneficial
✓Practical shopfloor machinist/tooling background is beneficial Show more →
