Development Designer - Retail Fixtures
Description✓My client is an expert at transforming commercial space and providing design driven solutions
✓With over 20 years’ experience operating in the fast-paced and dynamic retail sector, they provide a true end-to-end service; from store construction and consolidation, to fixture procurement, projects and mechanical & electrical installation.
✓In this role you should show good technical ability and be able to produce drawings for client approval and for manufacturing purposes
✓Another part of this role is to carry out site surveys when required to complement our busy team.
✓* Take briefs from the Creative team and bring concepts to life, developing them in SolidWorks or Inventor for prototype and manufacture
✓* Sketch initial production ideas in order to ascertain costs
✓* Produce quotation specification documents
✓* Identify the suitability and availability of materials
✓* Produce detailed, final drawings using SolidWorks or Inventor to produce design specifications, including parts lists and assembly instructions
✓* Test new design concepts via computerised modelling or physical hands-on prototyping
✓* Problem-solve and find solutions to sometimes complex mechanical problems
✓* Strong value-engineering mind-set is a must
✓* Exceptional knowledge of materials, processes and market requirements
✓* Arrange meetings and liaise with Project Management & Suppliers to discuss and negotiate appropriate production processes, costs and commercial issues
✓* Form pro-active relationships with suppliers in our metal fabrication and joinery supply chains both in the UK and Overseas.
✓* Occasionally travel to suppliers’ production facilities to evaluate prototypes and feasibility of production Show more →
