We are working with a global innovator that is paving the way for a zero-emission future by developing sustainable hydrogen fuel technology through the use of hydrogen technology.
Based in the Liverpool area, this business specialises in converting vehicles to run on commercially available hydrogen, enabling fleet managers to significantly reduce their carbon emissions
While purely electric vehicles may offer a more environmentally friendly solution, their limited range makes them impractical as a long-term fix-all solution
We are actively working towards a more sustainable alternative
With a fast-growing team, we aim to continue targeting commercial fleet conversions over the next 18 months and now require 2x controls and calibration engineers to join the team.
As the Controls and Calibration Engineer, you’ll be responsible for troubleshooting and resolving electronic and control system issues during the build and testing of machines
Your role will involve developing and evolving complex software models to deliver control features, as well as verifying and validating these features
Your key responsibilities will include:
Development and evolution of complex software models using MATLAB/Simulink to deliver control features for the target products.
Verification and validation of control features as part of the development process.
Troubleshooting and resolution of electronics/control system issues encountered during machine build and testing.
To be successful as the next Controls and Calibration Engineer you’ll need to have the following skills and experience noted below;
Essential:
Strong technical background, preferably with a good technical degree in mechanical, electronic, electrical, control systems, or automotive engineering
However, other qualifications and relevant experience will also be considered.
Experience in real-time embedded software development.
Proficiency in auto-code generation and debugging on target hardware.
Ability to debug software on real-time controllers.
Proven experience with MATLAB/Simulink and Stateflow.
Capability to translate technical requirements and objectives into production-ready software models.
Prior experience in control software development within the vehicle or construction equipment control domain or a related field.
Excellent communication skills.
Desirable:
Experience in variant/calibration data management.
Understanding of fixed-point data typing.
Familiarity with embedded C/C++ code for real-time control systems.
Knowledge of vehicle network protocols [e.g., CAN, J1939, etc.].
Familiarity with calibration/diagnostic tools [e.g., ATI Vision/INCA, CANalyser, etc.].
Knowledge of or prior experience in developing software to meet functional safety requirements [ISO 26262, AUTOSAR, A-SPICE, etc.].
Proficiency in software version control systems [GIT, etc.].
Experience working on whole-vehicle/machine systems.
Knowledge and experience in proficiency with the full V-Cycle, including modeling, requirements capture/management, and test case generation.
