Engineering Technician Apprenticeship

DescriptionWorking towards achieving the Level 3 Engineering Technician Apprenticeship Standard [Mechatronic Maintenance Technician], you will initially work 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday 8.30am to 4.30pm, to include day release at technical college for practical and theory based 'off-the-job’ training.
Reporting to the on-shift Maintenance Team Leader at Borgers, it is aimed that over the course of your apprenticeship you will develop a sound knowledge of Electrical, Mechanical and Electronic disciplines, to be incorporated within your daily working practices and in support of your learning at college.
As part of the apprenticeship, you are responsible for completion of the required academic and practical requirements and will gain knowledge and understanding of other aspects of the Company’s operations by participating in Company assigned training / projects as and when required.
Assisting the Maintenance Team, you will gain hands on operational experience in the following areas:
* Preventative maintenance and routine servicing.
* Dealing with machine breakdowns and repairs of mechanical, electrical and robotic equipment.
* Trouble shooting / fault finding of any defects on machines.
* Small amounts of fabrication work from time to time.
* Updating and maintaining Maintenance IT systems.
* Engaging and suggesting improvement ideas as your knowledge develops.
* Carrying out other reasonable requests made by your line manager and / or to support departmental or Company objectives.
* Observing and complying with all good working practices.
* General housekeeping duties as required.
All work assigned should be performed safely and responsively, in adherence with the Company’s policies including Health & Safety.
It is anticipated that as you progress [after approximately 3 years], you will move to a 42-hour working week on a shift pattern for your area, which may cover day and night shift working [2 or 3 shift] or a pattern involving day, night, and weekend working [continental shift].
This post is ideally suited to school-leavers, however applicants who have been studying on a full-time basis and are interested in transferring onto an Apprenticeship may also be considered
