Quality Assurance Shift Leader [Sugar Testing]

DescriptionSalary: £192 per shift
Location: Wissington, Norfolk
Working Hours: You will work on a shift pattern that will involve working an agreed number of shifts per eight-week shift rotation, working out as approximately 3-4 shifts per week
Shift times are:
Monday – Sunday: 19.00 – 07:00
Breaks are paid and are included in the above shift times.
Contract Type: Fixed Term Contract September 2023 – March 2024
Provisional campaign start date 26 September 2023, subject to change.
You must be available to attend a training day on 24 August 2023 in Wissington, Norfolk.

Purpose of the role & how you will contribute:

This critical role involves monitoring the testing and sampling activities of British Sugar on behalf of the NFU and the sugar beet growers to ensure compliance with agreed Beet Intake and sampling procedures.
You will be responsible for ensuring that every grower’s sugar beet sample is processed to agreed procedures and is not compromised, and that all agreed checks and procedures are correctly followed by British Sugar, reporting any non-conformances.

You will monitor the performance of Quality Assurance colleagues and will seek continuous improvement opportunities to enhance performance and operations.
What you’ll bring:

• Excellent spoken and written English
• Ability to follow rules and procedures and not to be afraid to challenge non-conformances when they arise
• Strong communication skills and ability to engage effectively with people across all levels together with tact and discretion
• Computer literate and able to input data accurately
• Organised and methodical with attention to detail
• Punctuality and reliability
• Ability to work unsupervised using your own initiative
• Previous experience of quality control would be beneficial but full training will be provided
• Willingness to work unsociable hours, to include weekends and bank holidays
You will be based at the British Sugar Factory, Wissington, and will work alongside British Sugar staff as they operate the beet intake for the campaign.
