DescriptionPenguin Recruitment is delighted to be supporting a highly regarded property consultancy on the hire of a Planning Consultant to their team in Birmingham.
Our client provides property consultancy services to investors, landowners, occupiers and developers and employs 100 Planning Consultants in three offices.
As a Town Planner, you will work with the team and other members of the wider team on National projects
Whilst the job is based in the Birmingham office, the projects that you will work on will have more of a National focus and may include projects in growth areas such as Oxford and Cambridge, strategic sites in the Greater Midlands area and repurposing retail and town centres across the Midlands and the South East.
You will be involved in diverse range of projects for a variety of clients
This is likely to include work across a range of sectors including residential, BTR, mixed use developments, industrial and logistics, life sciences, urban regeneration and strategic land promotion.
Main responsibilities
The role will involve working for a number of clients and include a variety of tasks including:
Support for the preparation of major planning applications,
Responsibility for the preparation of smaller applications,
Undertaking planning appraisals
Monitoring of emerging Local Plan documents and preparations and submission of representations,
Monitoring of applications and drafting representations,
Attending client meetings,
Assisting with thought pieces, presentations and research,
Assisting with planning appeals
Qualifications & Experience Required
MRTPI-qualified
The ability to successfully deal with clients at all levels and a passion for delivering high-quality work and excellent customer service.
Excellent commercial acumen, networking skills and the ability to participate effectively in a business driven by providing a top-level client service.
The ability to identify key issues relating to a problem and identify creative options and solutions for addressing these.
The ability to establish effective relationships at all levels within and outside, and translate these into business growth opportunities for the Firm.
A good personal manner, calm and authoritative, particularly when dealing with clients, but also internally, e.g
when supervising Graduate Trainees and other junior members of the team.
The ability to use knowledge and information to identify and develop creative but practical commercial opportunities on the client's behalf
