HGV Class 2 Driver

DescriptionThis role is for HGV license holders only.
Thorn Baker Recruitment are working with a client within Nottinghamshire, NG2, to recruit for their vacancy.
The role includes site assembly and / or installation of furniture, so good customer facing skills are required
We are looking for someone who will communicate well with colleagues and customers alike, ensuring goods are delivered in good condition and with care
Experience of handling furniture and fragile items is preferred.
Work can vary between simple delivery of boxed items through to flat pack assembly and some installation
Therefore the candidate needs to be able to work well as part of a team, but equally will need to be able to operate independently and with their own initiative
Candidate must be able to use basic tools.
Responsibilities
Essential skills required for this role:
Competent using mobile phone for delivery sign off.
Must have experience in furniture handling and assembly.
Experience in on site working CSCS is an advantage.
Basic joinery and competency skills.
Available for long hours of work and nights out away from home.
Working unsociable hours.
Proactive in finding solutions to any potential issues that may arise.
Comfortable with long distance driving.
Following a defined process and reporting to manager in line with processes defined.
Able to understand basic cad drawing layouts for furniture placement.
Working alone and within a team on all size projects from kerbside delivery to full install.
Positive attitude is a must.
Full uk license with experience in driving Luton and box vans.
Able to communicate face to face with customers and represent the company.
Communicate effectively with colleagues.
Have a drive to deliver a fantastic service to our customers.
The role is largely Monday to Friday, but will involve long and / or abnormal hours
Responsibilities:
- Follow assigned routes and schedules for efficient delivery
- Load and unload materials using appropriate equipment
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles
- Ensure compliance with all traffic laws and regulations
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries and vehicle maintenance
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 years of truck driving experience
- Clean driving record with no major violations
- Ability to operate heavy equipment such as forklifts is a plus
- Strong communication skills and ability to work independently
- Physical stamina to lift and move heavy materials as needed
