We are pleased to be working with our innovative and globally successful client based in Chelmsford with the recruitment of an operations manager seeking their next challenge to join their growing team.
The Operations Manager is trusted to make decisions on Operations policy, Operations procedures, and staffing
They will answer to the General Management and the Director and are always looking out for The Company's best interest.

Location: Chelmsford
Hours: Monday - Friday 8:30- 5:30pm
Salary: £40 - £60k [depending on experience]
Type: Permanent
Responsibilities:
Optimizing the workload of staff, resolving high-priority issues, and working on weekly and monthly reports to be handed to the General Management and Director.
Checking of Telex/OBL release authorisation along with daily upkeep of files
Advise customers the finer details of failing to provide required clearance/delivery details
Manage correct commercial documents for clearance.
Handle DUTY & VAT invoices
Send pre agreed charges to paying parties
Update OP forms regularly
Ensure all jobs show profit and in line with expected charges
Manage customers delivery expectations and pre-book in advance of ETA
Finalising of files and making sure goods are delivered and customer is satisfied
Provide tracking reports to supervisor/management/sales or customer when required
Regularly check the delivery rates for merchant/line
Manage shipment and deliveries
Ensure spreadsheets are kept up to date.
Knowledge of customs entries for both Imports and Exports
Managing team structure, department manuals, as well as internal procedures
Resolve critical issues that may arise during the import process, such as delays, damaged goods, or incorrect paperwork for larger VIP and Key Accounts.
Develop and implement strategies to streamline the import process and improve efficiency
Manage difficult VIP and Key Accounts customer complex requirements, inquiries and complaints which are difficult for other team members to handle in a professional and efficient manner
Qualifications:
3 Years of management experience in a similar role
Bachelor's degree in business, logistics, or related field
Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of customs regulations and compliance requirements
Two more supervisors trained up to cover Export and Import duties
