Yard Supervisor
Description✓We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Yard Supervisor to join our team at the Jewson branch in Peterborough.
✓As a Yard Supervisor, you will play a vital role in overseeing the day-to-day operations of the yard, ensuring efficient workflow, and maintaining a safe and organized working environment.
✓Key Responsibilities:
✓Supervise and lead a team of yard operatives, providing guidance, training, and support as needed.
✓Manage and maintain inventory levels of building materials and products in the yard.
✓Coordinate and prioritize the loading and unloading of materials, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
✓Oversee the maintenance and organization of the yard, ensuring a clean, safe, and hazard-free environment.
✓Monitor and enforce health and safety regulations, promoting a culture of safety among all yard staff.
✓Collaborate with the branch manager and other team members to optimize yard operations and customer service.
✓Address customer queries and concerns, providing exceptional service and resolving issues in a professional manner.
✓Conduct regular inspections of equipment and machinery, reporting any maintenance or repair needs to the appropriate personnel.
✓Assist in the recruitment, training, and development of yard staff, fostering a positive and productive team culture.Qualifications and Experience:
✓Previous experience in a supervisory role within a yard or warehouse environment.
✓Solid knowledge of building materials and construction products.
✓Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop a team.
✓Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
✓A commitment to health and safety, ensuring compliance with regulations and best practices.
✓Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with both customers and colleagues.
✓Proficiency in using computer systems and inventory management software.
✓Forklift certification and experience operating forklifts and other yard equipment is preferred.Hours of Work :
✓Monday to Friday : 07:30-5:00pm | Saturday [alternative] : 08:00-12:00pm
