✓The Role:
✓Cover Supervisors are used as general cover for lessons across the school when teachers are off or have periods for planning
✓The role allows you to gain experience working in front of the class without the pressure and expertise needed to plan and teach a lesson
✓The work for the lesson has been planned precisely by the class teacher for a cover supervisor to deliver and supervise
✓As a Cover Supervisor, your main objective is to oversee the smooth running of all lessons during the school day including:
✓Supervising the cover work set by the absent teacher
✓Ensuring the children have the required resources and knowledge to complete the work set by the teacher
✓Managing the behaviour of pupils during the lesson to ensure all work is completed to a high standard
✓Dealing with any immediate problems or emergencies
✓Collecting completed work after lesson and returning it to the appropriate teacher/department.Working as a cover supervisor offers invaluable experience leading the class and allowing you to develop your behaviour management skills
✓These skills are transferable to working within any school as a cover supervisor or support staff and will equip you with valuable skills needed when commencing the journey to become a teacher!
✓What the training includes:
✓Learn how to establish fair, trusting and supportive and constructive relationships with young people
✓How to communicate effectively in engaging with young people's learning
✓How to promote good behaviour and develop some strategies for managing young people's behaviour
✓To understand how teachers take practical account of diversity and promote equality and inclusion in their teaching
✓To understand what safeguarding is, how to deal with safeguarding issues and the promotion of wellbeing of young people
