A highly regarded SEN school is looking to add a Youth Worker/Children's Support Worker to their team to work alongside their pupils who have Special Educational Needs.
The role will be full time from 8.30am until 3.30pm Monday to Friday
It will be term time only and will be contracted on an ongoing basis with a view to turning permanent for the right candidate.
This School provides a personalised education for children, supporting them with a range of learning difficulties including Autism, Asperger's Syndrome, Speech Language & Communication Difficulties, Dyslexia and general learning difficulties.
The role of Youth Worker/Children's Support Worker will involve working on a 1:1 and small group basis with pupils aged between 4 and 11, to support and provide guidance to encourage their engagement in learning within their classroom environment as well as their personal and social development during socialising periods through break and lunch times.
The ideal candidate for this role will be resilient, caring and nurturing, with a desire to make a positive impact to the education journey for children and young people.
Within the role you are required to:
• Provide calming and nurturing support for learners, encouraging their independence and rewarding progression milestones
• Be resilient, not easily offended and have the skills to de-escalate sometimes challenging situations
• Be committed to supporting the pupils to ensure they have consistency in their daily routine
Skills and attributes:
• Ability to relate well to pupils with additional needs; experience of working with SEN would be advantageous, personal experience is hugely relevant, but a character fit is most important
• Be able to remain calm under pressure
• Be confident, passionate and highly motivated
• Be vigilant in identifying safeguarding concerns and following protocol
