Based in a specialist SEMH school, understanding how Restorative processes, understanding nature/nurture, empathy and putting comfort before content, can aid children and young learners make better decisions.  Pragmatically, you and the school will have great successes, some genuinely heart-breaking failures, it’s giving each child to make positive decisions, while improving their key and personal skills.
 
The focus of this role will be working with boys and girls, KS2 and KS3 aged, with Low Support need for their Autism, focussed on complex Social Needs.

This role will give you great foundations in Mental Health and SEN education to take into your Criminal and Youth Justice aspirations, especially if you aspire to work in Criminal, Youth Justice, Social justice.
Youth and Community, Psychology & Criminology Graduates required for this LSA role in Leigh-on-Sea, you will be working children aged 5-16 who have low tolerance levels for stress.  If you have ambitions within advocacy and social care, this is a good role to start in, help you qualify and disqualify the sectors for yourself. 
 
Barnet is such a diverse, complex borough, much like all of London is.  This is what the role is all about, different families will approach their children’s mental health and SEN very differently – some won’t acknowledge it all.
  Many of the children will have been let down by the adult word, in the most severe and abhorrent ways you can imagine.  Your first job, restoratively, is to build a secure, comfort relationship.

You will be working with children with low levels of tolerance for stress, anxiety that will have built up through the many ways the adult world has tragically let them down.  At the point of referral to the provision many pupils have additional, associated and sometimes complex needs, which may include ADHD [Attention Deficit and Hyperactivity Disorder]; ADD [attention deficit disorder]; ODD [Oppositional Defiant Disorder Tourette’s; Mental Health Difficulties; Language and Learning difficulties; Asperger's or are on the Autistic Spectrum.

Can you make the student’s life just that little bit better today, keep them safe and demonstrate the value of an education to the students?

In addition, can you keep the children safe? You will see a Behaviour team in action and receive manual handling training
Sincerity is a major key in this role, your objectives within youth advocacy and social justice could well come to the fore, restorative processes will form the foundations of this
You won’t achieve much without it.

Some anti-social behaviour will be present and that will take some getting used to; this is all part of the role when aiding society’s most vulnerable children
All training and support provided by the school with their excellent training system.
Number of Therapies introduced and holistic processes, a little progress is a cause for success here.
High cognitive intelligence, SEMH and Autism focus • Pathological Demand Avoidance and Pervasive developmental disorder • Secondary aged students with levels of learning well below their stated age
Positive engagement, giving the children a sense of acceptance, talking therapy will not always work here so different approaches required.
