Science Technician
Description✓Tradewind Recruitment is working with a secondary school in Hackney, which requires a Science Technician for September [for the full academic year]
✓This is an excellent opportunity if you have prior experience in school laboratory settings or recent science graduates and are seeking a role in education
✓Position: Science Technician
✓Location: Hackney, East London
✓Salary: £13.50 - £15 per hour, depending on experience.
✓Start Date: September 2023
✓Contract: Temporary, with potential extension
✓Job Responsibilities:
✓Prepare and arrange laboratory equipment and materials for science practical lessons.
✓Provide support to teachers and students during practical sessions, ensuring a safe and effective learning environment.
✓Organise and maintain laboratory resources, including chemicals, specimens, and equipment.
✓Perform regular maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment as needed.
✓Assist in managing the inventory of science supplies and equipment.
✓Follow and adhere to health and safety regulations within the laboratory environment.Job Requirements:
✓Previous experience working as a Science Technician in a school setting OR recent science graduate.
✓Strong knowledge of laboratory procedures and safety protocols.
✓Familiarity with handling chemicals, specimens, and scientific equipment.
✓Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail.
✓Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
✓Ability to work independently and efficiently with minimal supervision
✓To succeed in this Science Technician role, you will need to:
✓Hold a science degree and possess laboratory experience.
✓Have an Enhanced DBS Disclosure, Overseas Police Clearances [if applicable], and professional reference checks.
✓Ensure your CV covers the last 10 years of employment history whenever possible.
