SEN Primary Teaching Assistant

DescriptionWe are looking for a SEND Teaching Assistant to work with young people with Autism and other associated Special Educational Needs.

You will be working within a close team who are highly nuturing of their colleagues, so if you are looking to enhance your existing skills and make a difference in the lives of these young people then this could be the role for you!
You must be willing to assist with personal care and toileting and also take part in swimming sessions on a weekly basis
You won't be required to actually swim, but you will be required to stand in the pool clothed and hold/support the children while they exercise.
This is a full-time, long-term role for the right candidate.
Ideally you will be able to demonstrate having successfully supported students with Autism in a previous role
However, if not, there is substantial training given for someone who has little SEN experience but the right attitude and drive.
Job role:
· Support young people with Autism and other associated Special Educational Needs
· Run 1:1 & group support sessions
· Inspire and motivate pupils to develop and succeed
· Take part in weekly swimming sessions
· Administer personal care when required
· Develop communication skills in speech, gesture, sign or symbol so that they can interact with other people, make choices, follow instructions and explanations and access the key concepts needed for learning
· Establish key skills in Literacy, Numeracy, Science and ICT
· Learn to co-operate with other people, to build positive relationships and to take responsibility for themselves
· Learn the skills which will help them be more confident and independent in adult life
· Learn about the world around them and the wider community
· Develop effective communication through speech or sign and to interact confidently with other people
· Develop self-awareness, respect for others and a sense of responsibility, so that they can play their part in the school community and become active citizens as adults.
