✓As a Battery engineer with some industrial experience you will work along with other electronics and battery specialists in global discovery team to develop and qualify new, product integration-ready battery and energy storage technologies for a global organisation
✓As a battery engineer with a background in electrochemistry or electronics you will support breakthrough innovation across different innovative electronics categories and be a key part of delivering world-class products.
✓As a battery specialist / battery engineer you would validate and robustly test and support battery development and device validation activities within NPD engineering
✓A core responsibility for this role will be rigorous testing of emerging battery technologies and chemistries as well as battery integration as appropriate for inclusion in the company’s electronic portfolio
✓This role also significantly contributes to the new technology selection by establishing the strong datapoints from the battery testing to support proper technical decision-making.
✓Key Responsibilities
✓* Supporting the battery and device development team in battery design assessment, device and battery verification testing, sample preparation and functional problems solving.
✓* Specification of battery requirements from detailed project briefs.
✓* Communicate the new battery requirement to suppliers as well as arrange technical sessions in order to drive the appropriate technical options.
✓* Accountable for all aspects of battery design and design verification [theoretical and experimental].
✓* Battery manufacturer identification and selection.
✓* Battery validation and the functional safety testing of batteries and devices.
✓* Experimental and test design for new battery formats, chemistries, or device operating principles
✓* Specifying full battery validation and product integration test plans, test cases and analysing results to ensure the functionality and reliability of the product and its batteries.
✓* Failure analysis and root cause investigations of battery failures or poor performance.
✓Qualifications and Experience
✓* A degree BSc, MSc, PhD engineering- degree in any of the following fields: chemistry, materials science, electronics, chemical engineering or similar.
✓* Ideally a few years in experimental experiences with Li-ion battery fabrication, cell assembly, battery testing and validation, understanding fundamental electrochemical principles.
✓* Hands-on experience either in design development from battery manufacture business or engineering role in battery system integration from consumer electronics or electric vehicle [EV] industry.
✓* Capable of establishing the test system to perform battery assessment needed.
✓* Capable of conducting Charge/Discharge testing, environmental and safety relevant testing of electrochemical cells and battery packs.
✓* Experience in detailed cell and battery pack characterisation.
✓* Experience in materials characterisations techniques e.g
✓battery test equipment, X-ray diffraction, SEM and CT.
✓* Significant knowledge and understanding of battery manufacturing processes.
✓* Knowledgeable of consumer electronic device validation and product safety requirements.
✓* Some contemporary knowledge with consumer electronics failure analyses.
