My client have a great opportunity for a Procurement Buyer to join a growing company in the supply chain team, working closely with engineering in the development of a novel phased array antenna system
The successful candidate will be comfortable in carrying out sourcing activities from RFQs and order placements, to agreeing contractual terms with suppliers, as well as continuous stakeholder management
This role relies on effective workload prioritisation and high independent productivity to meet the needs of the business
Technical responsibilities:
Assist management of the procurement of electronic components, and PCA deliveries with the CEM in line with project schedules, for the design of electronically steered antennas used in satellite communication.
Run reports from the ERP system relating to supplier KPIs, spend tracking, open commitment, etc.
Manage ad-hoc procurement purchasing requests for other commodities where required [cables, metalwork, services, etc].
Obtain competitive pricing for purchase requests to achieve company cost-savings.
Complete material cost analysis' where required and help track spend in line with budgets.
Proactively coordinate with engineering teams and component suppliers/manufacturers to build and maintain solid relationships to aid cost optimisation and mitigate component lead times
Organisational Responsibilities:
Report into the senior buyer and engineering teams on status updates with regards component kitting dates and production readiness etc.
Support quality compliance to help maintain the ISO9001/AS9100 ambitions of the organisation by following and enforcing procurement related processes.
Maintain positive relationships with suppliers to ensure the timely delivery of materials and components.
Identify and manage any risks associated with procurement progress affecting project timelines
This may involve identification of supply chain risks, ensuring compliance with contracts, and developing sourcing strategies for component groups
Qualifications & Skills:
Minimum 3 years' experience in procurement, preferably in the electronics/aerospace/satcomms industry
Bachelors degree in Business, Supply Chain Management or suitable qualification in a related discipline
Strong negotiation, communication and relationship management skills
High attention to detail and task prioritisation
Knowledge of electrical/mechanical BOM structures related to electronic product assemblies, and basic PCA manufacturing processes
Proficient in MS Office
Awareness of NDAs/procurement terms and conditions
Desirable:
CIPS Level 4 qualified or desire to work towards qualification
Knowledge of export and trade compliance
Experience with ERP systems [SAP, IFS]
Appreciation of AS9100 / ISO9001 processes
