Our client is industry leading name in the field of multi-disciplined engineering consultancy, specifically asset management solutions
They are looking to hire a industry specialist in the position of Estimator and Proposal Writer.
As Estimator and Proposals Writer will join the business to support our internal teams, existing client base, and assisting to bring new clients on board.
This role requires you to be the primary contact their client base therefore, a high level of professionalism and technical proficiency will be required.
The role
The position will operate UK wide in the target regions of: North East, North West, Humber and Scotland with target sectors in: Chemicals, Pharmaceuticals, Oil & Gas, Food, Bulk Storage & Distribution, Renewables and Energy.
The focus of the role will be to act as the first point of contact of a client’s journey
You will be required to work with and advise clients in accordance with the relevant legislation and design the workflow of a job, based on client needs and requirements.
Your Responsibilities:
* Review and collect data from enquiries/tenders.
* Identify labour, materials, time and travel costs, as well as other data needed to complete the identified tasks.
* Visit client sites to review the job and collect meterage’s, dimensions, etc.
* Develop cost estimates and pricing against existing norms.
* Write draft proposals for approval by the management team.
* Aid preparation of information for invoices.
* Review jobs upon completion to analyse variances between estimated values and achieved values, to then feedback root causes.
* Prepare and maintain a cost database to enable future jobs to be priced quickly and accurately.
Your background:
* HNC or equivalent in an engineering discipline, ideally Chemical Engineering, or Asset Management.
* Ideally you will have tangible evidence of time served in a similar role and industry.
* Experience using Microsoft Office, predominantly Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word
Lotus Notes would also be advantageous.
* Previous working knowledge of process equipment, such as tanks, reactors, piping, pressure systems, boilers, columns and relief streams.
* Desirable experience in or knowledge of standard NDT techniques [PCN/ASNT], such as Ultrasonic Thickness Testing, Magnetic Particle Flaw Detection, Dye Penetrant Flaw Detection, Eddy Current Flaw Detection.
* Desirable experience in or knowledge of relevant Inspection standards, such as EEMUA 159, API-570, API, 510, CSWIP Visual Inspection
* Desirable knowledge of or exposure to relevant design standards and how they apply, such as BS2654, BSEN 14015, PD5500.
* Desirable knowledge of Written Schemes of Examination, Risk Based Inspection and RBI process.
