The Production Manager's role within the Manufacturing team for this leading manufacturer and supplier of medical products is to direct and coordinate manufacturing departments in achieving manufacturing schedules and meeting the Company’s business objectives
Reporting to the Site Manager in this challenging role, you will lead a team across 2 shifts to ensure the manufacture of all products is carried out in an effective and efficient manner to agreed standards and cost restraints, whilst pursuing the company’s people development and continuous improvement ethics of Quality, Cost and Delivery.

The Role of Production Manager:
This is a key role for the growth of the Manufacturing Department and the successful individual will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the Production unit, making appropriate decisions on production, planning, raw material, quality, safety and personnel development and requirements. 
Manage a team of circa 70 heads with 3-4 direct reports
Ensure that all products are manufactured according to customer specifications and are completed and delivered to the customer on time through the efficient use of labour and resources. 
Lead Lean Manufacturing programmes and initiatives including cellular manufacturing processes,  Kaizen, Target costing, Kan-ban and process analysis 
To ensure output levels are achieved and challenged in order to hit efficiency targets 
To work closely and co-operate with the Quality & Technical department, ensuring processes operate at an optimum level and to continuously seek to develop and improve all processes, procedures,  operations and methods within the area of responsibility 
To ensure staffing levels meet production requirements each working day and that all functions are  adequately and appropriately staffed at all times
To ensure that, in line with agreed budgetary targets, effective resources are in place to meet the  demands of the business unit, complying with all relevant policies and procedures 
Effectively work with the HR Department to ensure all staff training and development needs are identified and met through the implementation of the company’s performance review process 
Having a pragmatic, hands-on approach with leadership skills being highly visible at all times 
Hold regular team communication forums and ensure that relevant business information is  communicated effectively and cascaded throughout areas of responsibility 
Ensure that full cooperation is given to the Health & Safety Manager in relation to risk assessment  and accident reporting incidences 
Delivery of a seamless interface with internal and external customers 
Proven Lean Manufacturing background with experience in working to ISO9001 
Strong people management skills, with the ability to focus and drive staff to achieve results in a  pressurised environment with strict deadlines. 
Minimum Skills / Experience Required:
Previous experience in a manufacturing, engineering or production management role [Essential]
Apprentice trained to NVQ level 3 or equivalent [desirable]
Mechanical HNC or Certificate in Management Studies [desirable]
Lean / Sigma Green Belt or significant practical deployment of lean manufacturing techniques,  process improvements and proactive quality management 
IOSH experience or similar [desirable]
Worked with technically complex products and equipment ideally in a fabrication or machining  environment [essential]
