Quality Inspector
Description✓Position : Quality Inspector
✓Sector : Engineering/Manufacturing
✓Location : Sheffield
✓Salary : £25,935
✓Shifts : Days regular 37.5 hours
✓Main Responsibility:
✓Carry out the appropriate formal evaluation and inspection checks for good inwards materials, work in progress or finished goods in accordance with the manufacturing procedures
✓The inspector is responsible for ensuring that all measurements and checks are correctly recorded
✓Where an item is found to be outside of tolerance then the inspector will raise the issue with the appropriate personnel to agree corrective actions, if the product is deemed non-conforming then the appropriate paperwork will be raised in line with current procedures
✓The inspectors will identify and recommend the best way to measure/inspect components and furthermore to ensure that all inspection gauges and instrumentation are maintained within calibration.
✓Main Duties:
✓To carry out the appropriate levels of inspection on goods inwards materials, work in
✓progress and finished goods
✓Highlight any areas of non-conformance, accurately
✓maintain all records and documentations, notify the appropriate person[s] when
✓problems are encountered.
✓To be flexible in their approach to inspection and other roles within the business
✓thereby ensuring that production demands and customer expectations are always
✓achieved.
✓Ensure that all the company’s inspection, measuring, and testing equipment is within
✓calibration control
✓Request additional and/or replacement gauging and measuring
✓equipment when required.
✓Identify opportunities for improvement that lead to enhancements of product quality.
✓Improve manufacturing efficiencies and product cost reduction.
✓Participate in the creation and/or revision of work instructions for the inspection
✓function.
✓Ensuring any new measuring equipment is calibrated\validated and meets all quality
✓requirements.
✓Recommendation of product reworks, concession, and scrap disposal in accordance
✓with the Non-Conformance Reporting System.
✓Excellent understanding of first principles of measurements.
✓Uphold and promote the JRI values and ethics in a professional manner,
✓demonstrating integrity both internally and externally.
✓About you:
✓Ideally with an engineering qualification.
✓Able to read and interpret engineering drawings.
✓Must be methodical, precise, and accurate with a keen eye for detail.
✓Must be dextrous and able to carefully, accurately use test equipment, gauges and
✓measuring equipment [callipers, micrometers, and shadowgraph].
✓Able to develop job knowledge and expertise through continual personal development.
✓Good team working
✓Computer literate on Microsoft packages like Excel, Word etc.
✓A good communicator [written/verbally] and well organised.
✓Monitors personal performance against deadlines and milestones.
