Transport Planner

DescriptionOur client is currently looking for a Pre-Development Engineer to join their team in Cambridge
As part of their growing Transport Planning & Infrastructure department, you can expect to be involved in projects across a wide range of sectors including residential, employment, education, defence, and urban centre designs.
Responsibilities:
You will work as part of a multi-disciplinary infrastructure design team helping to identify the most appropriate transport solutions and designs for any given situation
You will also be working on flood risk assessments and drainage strategies as well as utility infrastructure reports.
You will support the delivery of our input to projects and provide technical contributions to our specialist team in preparing technical reports and other submissions
You will typically be supporting senior staff with technical input into a variety of projects.
Key responsibilities will include:
Site appraisals, feasibility studies and pre-application planning advice.
Transport Assessments, Transport Statements and Travel Plans to accompany planning applications.
Flood Risk Assessments and Utility Reports.
Engaging with Local Authorities and officers.
Drainage Strategies to support planning.
Data analysis and assessment of transport related policies.
Traffic modelling and junction capacity assessments.
Highway design including roundabouts and traffic signals among others.
Sustainable transport strategies.
Construction Traffic Management Plans.
Delivery and Servicing Management Plans.
Healthy Streets Assessments.Candidate requirements:
They are looking for either a graduate in Geography, Urban Planning, Transport Planning, Civil Engineering or similar, who is keen to embark on a career in Transport Planning and Infrastructure Planning.
Candidates should have:
Relevant degree [or higher] level qualification with a 2:1 classification [or equivalent] or above and membership or working towards membership of a relevant professional body [CIHT, ICE or similar].
Evidence of using standard transport planning databases such as TRICS would be useful.
Use of AutoCAD as a computer drawing package is desirable.
Proven project delivery capabilities.
Use of drainage modelling software Microdrainage, FLOW or similar.
Strong software modelling capabilities on relevant software packages such as ARCADY/PICADY/LINSIG, would be desirable but not essential.
An interest in urban environment design / planning.
Good Microsoft Office skills are essential such as Word & Excel.
Good written and verbal communicator.
Good numeracy, time management and organisational skills.
Good interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with others.
