Location: Manor Farm, within River Hamble Country Park
We are recruiting a Catering Assistant for the recently refurbished Cafe at Manor Farm
This is a fantastic opportunity to work in this modern, light-filled space serving good mood food and the best flat-whites this side of Southampton

What are we looking for?
Catering Assistant, you will have the ability to cope in a busy environment, work well under pressure, and deal calmly with unexpected situations
You will be an enthusiastic team player and demonstrate a passion for hospitality and a willingness to learn
You will demonstrate excellent communication skills and impeccable personal presentation.
Duties will include welcoming and serving customers, preparing and serving a range of menu items together with other general tasks which include cleaning duties and washing up
Catering experience is desirable but full training will be given.
Job Purpose:
Under the direction of the Catering Manager, help prepare and serve food and drink as appropriate while following strict hygiene and safety rules
Complete customer transactions efficiently and carry out general cleaning duties
Role Responsibilities:
Food preparation and cooking of meals: Help prepare, as directed by the line manager, the required number of food products, following specified menu/special dietary requirements
Setting up and clearing away: Ensure the service is organised appropriately and timely and that the area is kept clean and suitable for use.
Serving/customer liaison: To serve food and drinks to customers speedily and courteously, dealing effectively and confidently with queries or complaints
Accurate handling of cash.
Kitchen cleaning rota and general washing up: Manually wash up all eating utensils and equipment, sterilising where required, following set guidelines or use dishwasher where appropriate
Complete cleaning duties, following daily and weekly rotas, to ensure health and safety and hygiene standards are maintained.
Stock control/receipt of deliveries: Put away deliveries as instructed, ensuring correct stock rotation and quality control guidelines
Receive deliveries, when directed by line manager, carrying out quantity, temperature and quality checks.
Corporate and statutory initiatives - equalities / health and safety / e-government/ sustainability: Ensure health and safety and hygiene procedures e.g
temperature probing and recording.

Essential knowledge skills and experience:
Physically able to lift service and kitchen equipment
Desirable knowledge skills and experience:
Experience of working in a relevant catering environment

Exposure to food products which may be irritants [tomatoes, potatoes, onions, garlic, fruits, lettuce]
Use of knives
Work can be at a fast pace
Temperature variants - kitchens can be hot in summer and cold in winter
