Senior Desktop Support Engineer

DescriptionWe have an exciting opportunity for a customer-focused, enthusiastic and experienced Desktop Support Engineer to work as part of the iFix Technical Team, supporting one of our well established clients, based on their site in Aldermaston.
The site benefits from a restaurant, Costa coffee, parking, and good public transport links.
The iFix Technical Team service delivery model consists of Evergreen [Conference Room & VIP Support], Laptop Support and Hardware Assessment and Supplier Lead Services.
This is a full-time permanent position working a 9-day fortnight, as well as working overtime outside of core hours to meet the client's requirements.
Due to the nature of our client's work, you must be prepared to work on a nuclear site and already hold or be able to obtain DV security clearance

As an experienced Desktop Support Engineer you will:
• Provide a high level of customer service at all times, ensuring the customer is kept updated throughout the life cycle of the call
• Be responsible for the managed refurbishment of PC across all sites and all Networks
• Respond to last minute requests for work in the highest profile locations
• Manage 180+ Conference rooms with the latest Audio Visual equipment installed to ensure patching and serviceability
• Be responsible for overall PC builds, including remote and manual software installation and OS software deployment
• Apply firmware updates, software patches and updates to achieve optimum product functionality
• Carry out software version customisation, testing services and technical support
• Show professionalism and initiative when dealing with technical issues that may involve several HP & onsite customer teams
• Provide general LAN advice and guidance to end users
• Learn, manage, support and take responsibility for new hardware systems as required
• Provide problem diagnosis to management coherently and recommend possible resolutions
What we're looking for:
• Professional verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent customer service skills
• Ability to demonstrate initiative to resolve customer problems under pressure in a fast paced environment
• Good knowledge of EUWS support models and best practices
• Proven experience with hardware break/fix support of HP and Lenovo desktops and laptops
• Knowledge of Windows 7/10 Operating Systems and Microsoft Office Packages
• Working knowledge of PC and peripheral hardware
• Knowledge of MOD security classifications and guidelines
• Full UK Driving Licence
Desirable skills / qualifications:
• ITIL Foundation
• SCCM Knowledge and application
