✓We have an exciting new job opportunity for a Court Usher to join one of our government clients in Wandsworth, South London
✓This is a full-time temporary role for an ongoing 12 months with a view to extending the contract further.
✓The Court Usher acts as an essential first point of contact for all the court users involved in hearings
✓There will be regular contact with the judiciary, assisting the administrative staff with the smooth flow of court work
✓You will meet members of the public and their legal representatives; prepare court /hearing rooms, and complete documentation, as well as ensuring the court runs smoothly and efficiently.
✓Duties will include:
✓" Providing information related to proceedings, escorting court users into and from the building, swearing oaths etc.
✓" Collecting and delivering files and bundles to the judiciary and clerks ensuring they have the necessary papers
✓" Opening, sorting, distributing and dispatching post as required, photo copying and filing
✓" Ensuring Court rooms are supplied against requirements for relevant forms and stationery
✓" Calling people into court / hearing rooms in priority order, discussing with Court Clerks and Legal Advisers and liaising with the Witness Service as necessary
✓" Keeping parties informed of changes e.g., of courtrooms and hearing times
✓" Typing and dispatching routine or straightforward letters.
✓" Facilitating CVP [Cloud Video Platform] hearings for the judiciary.
✓" Usher duties, liaising with Judges, showing public in & out of court, assisting with general court enquiries
✓" monitoring the email inboxes for documents for hearings, printing, logging and making sure they get to the court file for the Judge before the hearing.
✓" Operating computer consoles and office equipment.
✓Skills required:
✓" 2 GCSEs at Grade C or above, or equivalent qualifications
✓" Have experience of working with the public in a busy public service environment
✓" Ability to use a computer at the level required for the work.
✓" Must have good organisational skills and able to communicate effectively
✓" Good attention to detail
✓Salary: £10.57 p/h after 12 weeks £11.91 [with benefits of pension scheme and holiday.
✓Hours: 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 09:00-17:00 however some days you may finish at 4/4:30pm
✓An DBS check is needed for this vacancy which we will carry out if you're successful for this position and 3 years employment/education history will need to be provided
