Job Description
Job Title: Business Development Executive- Drug Development
Job Type: Permanent
Hours: 37.5 per week
Job Location: Glasgow
Benefits: As Business Development Executive, you’ll receive a salary of between £23,000 and £28,000, depending on experience, plus you’ll benefit from a 10% performance bonus private health cover after 1 years’ service, a contributory pension scheme and life cover.
Main Purpose of Role
* To work with clients to understand their technical requirements and be able to generate complex and accurate quotations in a timely manner in order to maximise revenue opportunities and contribute to overall business objectives.
* Act as the sales point of contact between the customer and the SGS Technical Operations teams/Project Management team whilst working with the rest of the sales team to ensure all technical and business items are in place to allow contract signature and test initiation.
Key Accountabilities
* Work in the sales team, generally in a defined territory alongside relevant Business Development Manager[s] [BDM], delivering territory sales plans to help ensure the company exceeds revenue and local contribution targets.
* Develop, through training, independent study of available resources and proactive engagement with colleagues, the knowledge and skills required to complete technical qualification of new business opportunities with respect to SGS capabilities and customer testing requirements.
* Support the communication with customers needed to ensure all technical and business items have been agreed prior to sample shipment and subsequent test initiation.
* Produce proposals/quotations and submit these to clients within the defined timeframe, ensuring technical, timeline, and costing requirements are agreed in advance.
* Organise and conduct daily meetings with Virology, Molecular Biology and TEM department heads, as necessary, collating technical qualification points that need their support, then follow-up with the BDM or directly with client.
* Attend client conference call meetings with the BDMs, being prepared to discuss testing requirements and quotations.
* Develop the skills required to competently update Salesforce and maintain accurate records at all times
Mainly, when opportunities are in “proposal” phase.
* Qualify customer enquiries received via SGS website/affiliates and introduce relevant BDM for the territory whilst rejecting/redirecting/cross selling enquiries not suitable for SGS Vitrology.
* Work with BDMs, Project Management, and customers to support BDMs maintain an accurate 3-month rolling forecast.
* As required, generate and present weekly reports to the sales team including sales, forecast, quotations, lost business.
Skills & Knowledge
Essential
* Knowledge of biotherapeutics and laboratory techniques/assays including but not limited to: qPCR, TEM, ELISA, cell based in vitro assays and in vivo assays.
* Organisational skills and ability to plan/manage several projects/tasks at any given time
* Time management skills and the ability to deliver work and objectives to deadlines in a busy and expanding business
* Detail orientated and strong attention to detail
* Excellent communication skills, verbal, listening and written; ability to present information in a succinct format
* Ability to problem solve whilst meeting tight timelines
* Pro-active engagement with clients/colleagues and positive attitude
* Ability to successfully network and build relationships with clients and colleagues
* Highly competent with computer applications, including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Salesforce CRM [or similar]
