Job Description
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an organised Facilities Manager to join our Morgan McLernon team in Lurgan
This position is responsible for the overall management of the yard including all staff working within this area, along with Health & Safety for the transport team
You will also ensure that accidents are correctly recorded with all supporting documents, create actions, recognise trends and put in place preventative training or measures.
Key responsibilities include:
Responsible for the management, hiring, training, development and motivating of all responsible colleagues to meet company and customer expectations and to maximise productivity while minimising turnover.
Manage the day-to-day operations of the yard/gatehouse, including documentation, protection and maintenance functions.
Ensure excellent Customer Service is provided to all customers.
Provide direction to the team regarding duties, goals and responsibilities.
Carry out company audits as required and record to an auditable standard.
Work closely with all functions to enable overall efficient running of the yard as a whole.
Manage and arrange the movements of pallets both inbound and outbound, keeping records to ensure pallets can be reconciled.
Efficiently and timely deploy resources to match service levels within an agreed budget, taking into consideration peaks and troughs to cope with busy and less busy periods.
Agree a set of continuous improvement projects and manage their implementation.
Manage and maintain site facilities.
Promote and encourage a safe environment by conducting safety conversations, observing tasks undertaken by employees and contractors working in the yard.
Conduct accident investigations to establish route cause and implement actions where required.
Ensure the department EOA incidents/accidents are completed in full with all required evidence and re training uploaded in a timely manner.
Analyse trends with regards to incidents and accidents, and provide guidance for prevention.
Collaborate with Driver Trainers, Management and external sites to obtain information on incidents and accidents that occur both on and off site, which includes CCTV requests
 
Represent the department at the site H&S meetings.
Issue contractor permits to the relevant external suppliers.
Identify and communicate any outstanding training, which involves preventative actions arising from an incident or an accident.
Ensure all training records are uploaded onto the electronic training system
 
Qualifications
Previous experience within a similar role with understanding of a busy, fast-moving transport department.
An ability to operate in a range of situations from the shop floor to client reviews.
An understanding of engagement and motivational tools and techniques.
An understanding of the key cost drivers within a business and how to affect them.
The ability to run small projects independently and take a decision based on limited information.
The ability to work with a site management team in order to achieve wider business goals that may be detrimental to other departments but best for the business overall.
Management National CPC as a minimum.
