QA Manager

DescriptionThe Role
* To supervise and manage the quality function on a daily basis, in order to achieve compliance with legislation and agreed customer requirements.
* To ensure that the quality system is adhered to and that all possible measures are taken to ensure quality within the business.
* To support the Technical Manager in the implementation of systems at factory level to drive continuous improvement.
* To manage objectives set by the Technical Manager to ensure completion within agreed timescales
* Lead and manage the quality team to ensure that all quality assurance activities from are carried effectively and efficiently.
* Develop and maintain the site’s quality management system.
* Work closely with the production team to identify and resolve any quality issues that arise during manufacturing.
* Ensure training and coaching is provided to the quality team to ensure they are able to carry out their roles effectively.
* Address customer and regulatory-raised quality issues promptly and effectively.
* Develop and implement ongoing strategy to reduce instances of non-conforming product.
* To conduct and monitor GMP in the factory and ensure corrective action is taken where necessary.
* Ensure routine inspections i.e
glass and hard plastic, fabrication, hygiene, foreign body and GMP are carried out to schedule, with the appropriate corrective action implemented.
* Establish root cause and implement preventive action plans for non-conformances raised.
* To develop and maintain raw material intake inspection processes, ensuring materials are assessed based on risk and non-conforming product is reported back to the supplier.
* Develop and report KPI measures for raw material suppliers.
* To review non-conformances and weekly KPI’s to identify trends, problem areas and instigate corrective actions
* Keep abreast of current and new legislation that is likely to impact the business.
* Ensure customer standards and expectations are met on a day to day basis.
* Support with NPD product launches.
* To ensure food safety issues are actioned immediately and escalated appropriately.
* To ensure the quality system documentation is audited and correctly archived.
* To assist with all customer visits and third party audits and to actively support the Technical Manager as required.
* To work within the appropriate Health and Safety procedures and to promote a strong awareness amongst all staff of a safe working environment.
The Person
* Working knowledge of relevant legislative criteria and industry standards for food production.
* Good working knowledge of food hygiene- preferably trained to intermediate food hygiene as a minimum.
* Basic awareness of health and safety requirements
* Relevant process and product knowledge
