Digital Print Field Service Engineer

DescriptionMy client, headquartered in the UK, provide specialised field engineering services to the ophthalmic, printing, healthcare and cinema sectors across Europe.
They're currently seeking an experienced field service engineer to work with a major print equipment manufacturer as the focal point to their customers in need of immediate on-site technical assistance across the East Anglia area
The role will involve follow-up on remote diagnosis, resolving the problem as quickly as possible to enable the customer to remain operational at all times
You will be expected to install, configure, maintain, and repair systems as well as demonstrate a proactive approach and contribute to maintenance related activities
The systems you will work on are complex and require quick learning and understanding; they will require the ability to rapidly identify the nature of complex issues and to provide optimal solutions.
You will be required to complete a 6 month “immersion” period with the manufacturer which will include intensive training, including training at the manufacturer’s facilities in Barcelona
You will be responsible for working remotely within an area commutable from Southampton, with the occasional requirement to travel overseas if required.
Requirements for the successful candidates are:
A professional with an intermediate or higher vocational technical background covering both mechanics and electronics with at least three years of experience in a similar field engineer position and environment.
Passionate about engineering and with an understanding of customer focus.
Dedication, teamwork and a proactive attitude.
The ability to interact at all levels of the organisation whether internally or externally.
A problem solver who appreciates quick action and measurable results.
Enjoys a diverse working environment.
Advanced knowledge in the field of electro-mechanical engineering.
Previous field experience with support of high end or complex electro-mechanical equipment.
Strong troubleshooting skills down to electronics component level
Detailed knowledge of electronic/electrical components including 3 phase mains power.
Ability to read circuit diagrams
Experience with installation and break down of equipment
Willingness to travel
Valid driving licence
Strong communication skills.
Additional Requirements:
Must have a current up to date passport or be able to apply for one immediately
You may sometimes be required to work early starts and/or late finishes - the core hours for this position are 45 hours per week [not including a 60-minute break each day].
