The opportunity
This is a brand new opportunity to join our company, gain a qualification and be put on a fast track career development plan.
To start with you will join us on a 12-month Fixed Term Contract and during this time you will work towards and obtain an NVQ Level 2 in Lean Manufacturing
During your first year you will work at one of our production plants and attend Cornwall college one day a week.
After successful completion of your first 12 months you will be offered a permanent position and go onto a fast-track development plan where the target is to obtain NVQ Mineral Technology Level 5 [Supervisor level]
In your fourth year you will be assigned shifts which also includes night shifts
Part of the level 5 course requires you to attend Derby University for one day every month [your transport and accommodation will be fully covered by the business].

Hours of work are 37.5 hours a week, working Monday to Friday, during the hours of 7.30am – 5.00pm
The role
The aim of the Production Apprentice is to learn all the elements of our Production and Manufacturing, working through each operating section and learning how to use the equipment, whilst working safely at all times under the guidance of their supervisor / mentor to meet Customer demand.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
* Comply with Safety, Quality and Environment objectives / regulations and company policy
* Ensure good housekeeping in all production areas
* Support the Shift Supervisor in performing the production programme in accordance with production targets, complying with the quality specifications set whilst achieving the greatest overall efficiency possible
* Monitor and control all aspects of the manufacturing process.
* Carry out daily checks to ensure associated plant is running at its optimum and any anomalies are identified and resolved in a timely manner
* Participate in trouble shooting / investigation of process variation / events that occur, building your knowledge, identifying opportunities for improvements in installations/procedures and putting into practice the actions that are defined following the companies continuous improvement programme
* Carry out daily work programmes as assigned by your supervisor / mentor
About You
The successful candidate should:
* 5 GCSEs at Grade C/4 and above to include Maths, English and Science and ideally with A level qualifications [or working towards them]
* Full driving licence
* Punctual, reliable and takes responsibility for their own actions
* Show respect for others, having regard for Diversity and Equality
* Respond positively to change in the working environment
* Integrates within the team, supports others and can listen to other people’s opinions
* Be able to work independently and effectively in challenging situation
