Description✓Plate Saw Operator
✓Reports to: Production Supervisor
✓Location: Patchway, Bristol
✓Salary: £28,000 per annum

✓Hours of work: 8am-5pm
✓Days of work: Monday - Friday

✓Gi Group are searching for Saw Operatives to join our client in Patchway to be part of a brand new start up company
✓The company is brand new to the UK, fresh and full of opportunities!
✓Purpose of the Saw Operator role:
✓Operate metal saw to cut material to customer requirements by performing the below duties.
✓Main responsibilities of the Saw Operator job:
✓* Check allocated material length, width, thickness, specification, alloy, material grain
✓direction and material lot number before cutting
✓* Check allocated cut plan and any additional drawings to ensure advised sizes are correct before cutting
✓* After material has been cut, verify that parts are within customer required tolerance using measuring equipment such as a tape measure, micrometer and Vernier caliper.
✓* Programme saw for cutting operation
✓* Ensure adequate dimensional checks to first part of every batch are completed
✓* Ensure checks to agreed number of parts per batch are completed adequately
✓* Mark each part with a hard stamp - Grain flow, USD, Lot number
✓* Label each part conforming to any standard procedure requirements
✓* Perform daily maintenance checks to metal saw
✓* Weigh all cut pieces and remnants
✓* Ensure all cut material is placed on a fit for purpose pallet
✓* Operate forklift and jib crane where required
✓* Perform daily health and safety checks to fork lifts, jib cranes and vacuum lifts
✓* Maintain quality standards throughout the operational process and liaise with team leaders to drive operational/process improvements
✓* Manual lifting up to 20KG
✓* Ensure productivity sheets are completed correctly each day
✓* Appropriate PPE worn at all times
✓* Perform daily housekeeping of local working environment
✓* Empty swarf bin and any waste bins at the end of shift as required
✓* Perform stock take duties as required
✓* Ensure that the companies health and safety policies are adhered to at all times
✓* Ensure that all near misses and accidents are reported to Line Manager

✓Basic mathematical skills including add, subtract, divide, common fractions and decimals.

✓Essential: experience operating machinery and metal processing, knowledge of a production facility and manufacturing processes
✓Desirable: experience working in a similar role and has health and safety experience.
✓Special skills or knowledge:
✓Essential: excellent analytical and organizational skills
✓Mathematical and IT skills
✓Ability to work to a high degree of accuracy
✓Desirable: knowledge of the metal industry
✓Interpersonal skills and attitude:
