We are currently Recruiting for a Steel Supervisor to join our Thornley Factory team, located in Durham.
Key responsibilities:
Reading and interpreting building plans.
Reading and interpreting reinforcement drawings.
Setting out work areas and determining the required materials.
Monitoring Steel stock levels and ordering required materials.
Using hand and power tools to cut and bend steel bars and mesh.
Laying out steel bars, mesh, rods, and framework.
Hoisting steel bars, mesh, and reinforcements into place.
Fitting spacers and supports.
Joining steel reinforcement bars [rebar], footings, and girders by welding or with clips or wires.
Fixing steel bars and mesh to solid concrete bases.
Using rebar to build casts that will keep setting concrete in place.
Planning fabrication and manufacture of reinforcement in line with the precast factory production plan.
Qualifications & experience:
Excellent timekeeping, attendance and flexibility
Welding certification
Self-motivated
Numerate & literate.
Team working attitude.
Previous experience within the same or similar role.
Excellent communication skills.
High degree of Health & Safety awareness.
Ability to work as part of a team or on your own.
Ability to learn to operate key manufacturing and mobile plant.
Willingness to undergo further training and development.
NVQ certification in steel fixing would be advantageous
IOSH or NEBOSH certification would be advantageous
Previous experience with equipment such as a press brake, bar bender and hand grinder.
