Tasks Summary and Responsibilities
* To observe and operate in accordance with Heath and Safety regulations as laid down in company procedures and Government legislation to ensure the safety and wellbeing of employees, workers and visitors
* Implement a customer focussed operational culture
* To plan jobs through various stages of manufacture deciding the correct machinery and processes to be used in order to achieve the stated accuracy and quality
* To manufacture new tools, repair and renovate old tools and produce samples / prototypes to the required accuracy and quality.
* Setting-up and operating standard and specialty equipment and attachments to turn, mill, drill, tap, grind, fit and finish workpiece
* To have the ability to handle various tasks simultaneously and be able to adapt to changing priorities and urgencies as they arise.
* To operate machines and carry out all other activities in a safe and responsible manner and maintain a clean and tidy environment within the department.
* To achieve tasks within the set time in order to meet departmental targets.
* To ensure that all tooling related activities are carried out in accordance with the appropriate company procedures.
* Carry out any other reasonable tasks as directed by the business from time to time.
Manufacture of new Mould-Tools & ancillary components and the repair / renovation of existing tooling to support the production of finished connectors
To work to very close tolerances, have the ability to read engineering drawings in order to carry out toolmaking functions
To work closely with the Engineering Department to enhance the efficiency of Mould-Tool manufacture.
* Ability to think strategically whilst managing the day to day demands
* Experience of Programming and operating 3 axis CNC/Milling Machinery – Preferably Hurco Max Control
* Experience of using CAD/CAM software

* Good hand-to-eye co-ordination
* Exceptional attention to detail
* Excellent maths skills
* Problem-solving skills
* Good verbal and written communication skills
* The ability to work independently as well as part of a team
* Able to work with minimum supervision and to timescales
* Knowledge of manufacturing Mould-Tools and machined parts
* Ability to select the most appropriate tooling required for the job in hand, and utilise the most efficient cutting parameters/techniques to maintain or improve efficiency.
Desirables
* Two to five years of experience in tool making
* Experience of Hurco VM1 3 axis Machinery
* Experience of OneCNC CAD/CAM
