Books Commissioning Editor
Description✓We have an unmissable opportunity to join the editorial team of a prestigious publisher of books in the social sciences and vocational areas as their new Commissioning Editor
✓Based in London on a hybrid model [with on average 1 day a week in the office], this role will see you assessing and pursuing commercially viable opportunities for new academic books.
✓Key accountabilities:
✓Commissioning new and existing authors to write new editions and new books, in line with team's commissioning targets
✓Developing a good understanding of the market, including topical areas and commercial trends
✓Managing commissioning projects at different stages, liaising closely with the author and working with the wider editorial team to ensure publications date are met
✓Overseeing work of Editorial Assistant and Assistant Editors, but without direct line management duties
✓Collaborating with colleagues across design, production, marketing and sales to agree
✓The ideal candidate will be able to make commercial decisions, show great organisational and project management skills, and be able to develop a thorough understanding of the academic book market in order to commission relevant and successful titles.
