DescriptionWe are currently working with an exciting start-up company based in Saffron Walden that is working on bringing to market a high-density, low-cost energy storage application
The team is now recruiting for a Polymer Chemist to join its R&D department on a permanent basis - focusing on improving the performance of materials which is applied to energy storage cells.
As a Polymer Chemist, you will play a key role in the design, synthesis, and characterisation of polymer materials for energy storage applications.
Polymer Chemist responsibilities
Plan and develop research projects with the goal of improving the performance of our materials.
Researching and evaluating performance improvements in energy storage cells to achieve the potential of the technology.
Contribute to the development of current technology for usage in commercial applications and products.
Contribute to, and support, the innovative environment by collaborating with different teams and sharing ideas.
Design and synthesize novel polymer materials for energy storage applications, with a focus on electrochemical performance and stability.
Conduct thorough characterisation of polymer materials using advanced analytical techniques, including Raman spectroscopy, FTIR spectroscopy, UV-vis spectrophotometry, thermogravimetric analysis, rheology, and nitrogen adsorption.
Stay up to date with the latest advancements in polymer chemistry, energy storage, and related fields, and contribute to the intellectual property strategy of the company.Polymer Chemist requirements
Degree level qualified in Chemistry [ideally PhD] with a focus/majoring in polymer chemistry.
Post-doc or industry experience is accepted.
Expertise and hands-on experience in polymer synthesis and characterization.
Proficiency in a wide range of analytical techniques, including Raman spectroscopy, FTIR spectroscopy, UV-vis spectrophotometry, thermogravimetric analysis, rheology, and nitrogen adsorption.
Knowledge and experience in electrochemistry would be highly advantageous.
Demonstrated ability to design and execute experiments independently, and to analyse and interpret complex data.
