Polymer Chemist
Description✓We are currently working with an exciting start-up company based in Saffron Walden that is working on bringing to market a high-density, low-cost energy storage application
✓The team is now recruiting for a Polymer Chemist to join its R&D department on a permanent basis - focusing on improving the performance of materials which is applied to energy storage cells.
✓As a Polymer Chemist, you will play a key role in the design, synthesis, and characterisation of polymer materials for energy storage applications.
✓Polymer Chemist responsibilities
✓Plan and develop research projects with the goal of improving the performance of our materials.
✓Researching and evaluating performance improvements in energy storage cells to achieve the potential of the technology.
✓Contribute to the development of current technology for usage in commercial applications and products.
✓Contribute to, and support, the innovative environment by collaborating with different teams and sharing ideas.
✓Design and synthesize novel polymer materials for energy storage applications, with a focus on electrochemical performance and stability.
✓Conduct thorough characterisation of polymer materials using advanced analytical techniques, including Raman spectroscopy, FTIR spectroscopy, UV-vis spectrophotometry, thermogravimetric analysis, rheology, and nitrogen adsorption.
✓Stay up to date with the latest advancements in polymer chemistry, energy storage, and related fields, and contribute to the intellectual property strategy of the company.Polymer Chemist requirements
✓Degree level qualified in Chemistry [ideally PhD] with a focus/majoring in polymer chemistry.
✓Post-doc or industry experience is accepted.
✓Expertise and hands-on experience in polymer synthesis and characterization.
✓Proficiency in a wide range of analytical techniques, including Raman spectroscopy, FTIR spectroscopy, UV-vis spectrophotometry, thermogravimetric analysis, rheology, and nitrogen adsorption.
✓Knowledge and experience in electrochemistry would be highly advantageous.
✓Demonstrated ability to design and execute experiments independently, and to analyse and interpret complex data.
