UV Test Scientist or Engineer
Description✓Role:
✓[Remeber in a 3 month role you will not be doing everything listed below, and not be expected to have the experiences]
✓The role of UV testing engineer is to carry out a programme of tests, research, and investigations to support development
✓You will play a critical role in helping to advance a breakthrough UV lamp technology created by scientists.
✓The technology is a novel technique to generate UV light that achieves higher intensity and lower cost without toxic chemicals and achieving forty times the lifetime of industry-standard mercury lamps
✓This low-cost, scalable technique has the potential to disrupt many industries including water treatment and air sterilisation.
✓Operating from within the dynamic and fast-paced Innovation team, you will conduct key experiments and provide support to our mission to commercialise a unique UV light source and realise economic and societal impact.
✓Key duties and responsibilities include:
✓• Conduct an experimental programme with the prototype to de-risk and support development to a minimum viable product [MVP], the experiments include:
✓Stabilisation and measurement of baseline performance of the prototype
✓Optimising the source to maximise the output of UV
✓Provide input to guide further design and guide the experimental programme
✓Essential:
✓Lab background
✓o Degree in a STEM subject or equivalent experience
✓o Able to manage an experimental campaign in the laboratory
✓Desirable:
✓o Experience working in a laboratory environment
✓o Experience with any of the following areas
✓Spectrometry
✓UV Photonics or optics
✓Microwave engineering [particularly high power]
✓Mechanical or electrical engineering
✓o Good communication skills
✓o Experience in working in an early-stage start-up
✓o Experience in supporting the development of plans to commercialise new technologies
