MTC are actively seeking experienced Operational Managers for their Client based in Manston, Kent.
Due to the continued success of MTC transforming lives and making a difference through education, training and Employment along with the fast growth at Manston’s short-term holding facility they are looking for the skills, knowledge and passion from leaders to join their team.
As a Detention Custody Manager, you would be responsible for managing a team of officers to provide a safe and secure environment for people during extremely stressful points in their lives
You are there to ensure the arrival process to the site, is as worry-free as possible and to access all support that is needed for them throughout their stay.

Duties include but are not limited to:
* You’ll directly people manage, train and develop our Detention Custody Officers to ensure high standards of service delivery for our residents and providing the required support, care, safety and advice to individuals arriving at our site.
* Continually review processes to ensure they are safe, compliant and high-performing, suggesting improvements to our offering and communicating with all partners any suggested changes to on-site operations.
* You will oversee operations to ensure a respectful, non-judgmental and engaging welcome for all, making sure all on-site procedures and policies are communicated effectively and delivered against in a timely manner.
* You will help the detained persons to access support and services including healthcare, welfare, education and other essentials.
* You will be an escalation point for our team of DCO's, ensuring communication of any urgent matters to our partner organisations, senior managers and internal governance teams.
* You'll be in regular contact with various on-site partners, recording and reporting appropriately any breaches of the rules or changes in policies and/or procedures
Working in partnership with other providers such as the home office and other private entities to ensure smooth running of the site.
Skills & Experience:
* You will demonstrate high levels of human empathy, be a caring and compassionate individual who takes responsibility for their actions and is committed to supporting our service user group.
* You'll have strong communication and interpersonal skills, an ability to influence outcomes and be able to interpret and deescalate conflict verbally and without the need for use of force, unless truly necessary.
* Experience of working with high-risk or vulnerable people would be beneficial, as well as experience of working in teams [ideally with a range of partners and stakeholders] to promote positive behaviour and reduce anxieties amongst a vulnerable service user group.
* Experience of managing teams [ideally with a range of partners and stakeholders] to promote positive behaviour and reduce anxieties and/or incidents.
* Experience of delivering high performing and outcome-focused services and programmes in a target driven outsourced contract environment.
* Proven experience of managing teams to deliver a 24/7 service.

This is a full time, permanent position, where you are required to be flexible with your availability to work.

You will work an average of 40 hours per week on a 14 week rolling shift pattern.
Shift Patterns will be made up of a combination of the following:
Early shift: 07:30 to 16:00 Late shift: 14:00 to 22:30
A shift: 08:00 to 22:00 Night shift: 20:00 to 08:00
