DescriptionJob Title: Finance Manager [Cyber, Space & Training]
Location[s]: Hybrid, and willing to travel to a primary location as business required [Harlow, Gloucester, or Manchester]
Summary of Role:
Reporting to the Deputy Head of Finance; Cyber, Space & Training, the main focus of the role will be on providing robust and accurate financial analysis including maintenance of financial reports, analysis of performance data, generation and analysis of cost data, support to management and programme teams and support of internal/external reviews and audits.
Main Duties:
Act as the Strategic Finance Business Partner for the Business Team and its Functional leaders, ensuring that finance is at the heart of the business
Understand and communicate the link between programme and financial performance across the business providing insight into the numbers for business leads and key stakeholders helping to shape decision making and business strategy
Responsibility for managing the business Financial metrics including but not limited to: Bookings, Sales, Profit, Cash, Functional Budgets, New business investment
Support the business in establishing Annual operating plans and long-range plans and support the business in delivering its commitments
Support Programme monthly forecasting process and Quarterly Estimate at Completion [EAC] Process making recommendations based on recent performance data to management
Actively promote the importance of accuracy, predictability and value add analysis across all finance reportables within CST, promoting where possible the importance of financial data and information
Drive process improvements in business reporting increasing the time spent conducting value added analysis and providing management information for decision making; Co-ordinating with the Finance Manager - CST Projects on improvement initiatives
Ensuring that all customer deliverables are met including standard monthly, quarterly deliverables as well as ad-hoc requests
Develop, communicate, and drive the operational tempo and requirements of the monthly and quarterly programme financial measures & controls, management reporting and analysis for the business Finance team, ensuring all stakeholders are clear on their commitments and the timeline for delivery
Ensure that all financial processes are delivered on time and well understood by the business and other key stakeholders including Risk and Opportunity Management, EVMS, Cost Centre Mgmt [Recovery], Utilisation, Forecasting
Establish and maintain relationships with US business counterparts ensuring that weekly updates, monthly updates are accurate and complete
Act as the "financial conscience" of the business and ensure Business and Financial Policy adherence
Ensure the training & development requirements of your team are met and build/maintain a high performing business partner team to support CST
Promote the development of the wider CST Finance team through leading by example in work-life balance, High Performing Culture principles and continued professional development
Support the wider CST business during surge periods as required Candidate Requirements:
Qualified accountant [CIMA preferred] with proven relevant commercial experience in a similar defence or complex contracting environment
Matrix organisation experience
Resilience to work in a busy, changing organisation
Ability to turn complex financial data into management information, including relevant recommendations that align to the business's strategic objectives
Proven ability to actively drive resolution on critical business challenges and key issues
Financial leadership experience or related experience
Commercially astute
Pro-active, Hands on approach with the ability to delegate where required
"Can-do" attitude
Agent for change and process improvement
Willingness to travel to multiple sites when required
First class communicator with excellent stakeholder management ability
Experience interfacing and conducting business with various functional disciplines [Business Development, Contracts, Operations, Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain Management, Program Management, etc.]
Microsoft Excel advanced user
Have an existing security clearance or able & willing to achieve a level of security clearance Desirable:
Systems Experience in SAP, COGNOS
Experience in a software development, system integration environment or similar would be advantageous
The ability to obtain an enhanced security clearance
